Champagne Bruno Ploix

Champagne Bruno Ploix stands out for its mastery of the art of blending, while highlighting the region’s emblematic grape varieties. The estate offers cuvées that reflect the savoir-faire of Champagne, as well as single-varietal expressions—particularly the Blanc de Blancs—that showcase the purity and typicity of each grape. The Ploix family’s commitment to vine care, manual harvesting, and extended aging underscores their dedication to preserving style, consistency, and quality across generations.

History

It was in the early 1970s that André and Michel Ploix acquired their first plots in the Champagne AOC, in the Sézannais region. At the time, these lands were not yet dedicated to vine cultivation. In 1972, they planted the very first Chardonnay parcel in the village of Saudoy, and the first harvest in 1975 yielded only 45 kg of grapes. Starting in 1979, Bruno Ploix joined the estate and brought it new momentum, while maintaining the high standards of quality that define the property. Over the years, the estate expanded and developed, eventually taking the name Champagne Bruno Ploix and dedicating itself exclusively to the production of Champagne wines.

The Vineyard

The estate is ideally located in Linthelles, in the southwestern part of the Marne, at the heart of the Côte de Sézanne. It spans 4 hectares of vines, planted at a density of 7,200 vines per hectare, with an average age of 40 years. The soils, mainly limestone and clay-limestone, offer a terroir particularly well-suited to producing high-quality grapes. The estate emphasizes a respectful approach to vine and soil cultivation, with exclusively manual harvesting to preserve the integrity and freshness of the grape clusters.

Winemaking and Aging

True to Champagne tradition, each cuvée is crafted using the traditional method. After harvest, the grapes are carefully pressed and vinified to reveal the full potential of this unique terroir. The wine then undergoes its second fermentation in bottle, followed by long aging on lees in the estate’s cellars. Depending on the cuvée, this aging period lasts a minimum of three years and can extend to five years, as with the Blanc de Blancs. This extended time on lees allows the aromas to refine and gives each Champagne remarkable complexity and finesse.
