Crémants Rauzan

These two cuvées embody the meeting point of ancestral cooperative know-how and meticulous winemaking. The forty-year-old vines, planted in limestone and clay-limestone terroir, lend both complexity and elegance to these long-aged sparkling wines, ensuring fine bubbles and a broad aromatic palette. Reflecting a long-standing tradition of solidarity and innovation, the wines of Rauzan continue the original spirit: a union of respect for the land, human passion, and collective effort to craft exceptional cuvées.

History

The Crémants de Rauzan are rooted in a human and cooperative adventure. At the beginning of the 20th century, several groups of winemakers from the Entre-Deux-Mers region decided to unite to face the challenges of the time. From the creation of the “common cellar” in Rauzan in 1933 to the successive mergers with the Grangeneuve and Nérigean wineries, the history of the Caves de Rauzan has been marked by a constant commitment to solidarity and shared expertise. Today, this legacy lives on through authentic, high-quality wines, driven by a love of fine craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation.

The Vineyard

The grapes used to craft the Fort de Rauzan (Brut) and Fleur de Rauzan (Rosé) cuvées come from vines located in Linthelles, growing in soils composed of limestone and clay-limestone. The plots, with a planting density of 7,200 vines per hectare, cover approximately 4 hectares and have an average age of forty years—ensuring full maturity and a deep expression of the terroir. Each bunch is harvested by hand to preserve the fruit’s integrity and carefully select only the best grapes.

Winemaking and Aging

Fort de Rauzan (Brut) and Fleur de Rauzan (Rosé) are produced using the traditional Champagne method, which demands precision at every stage. After an initial fermentation, the wines undergo a second fermentation in the bottle (prise de mousse), followed by extended ageing on lees.

  • Fort de Rauzan Brut (100% Chardonnay) is aged for at least five years—a notably long period that imparts remarkable finesse and complex aromas.
  • Fleur de Rauzan Rosé (30% Pinot Noir, 45% Meunier, and 24% Chardonnay, with 24% reserve wine) is aged for a minimum of three years, ensuring perfect balance between freshness, fruitiness, and elegance.

Wines Character

Fort de Rauzan (Brut): Made exclusively from Chardonnay, this wine displays a golden hue with luminous highlights. Its bubbles are fine and persistent. The nose reveals notes of white flowers, citrus, and brioche, while the palate stands out for its vibrant freshness and creamy texture—hallmarks of extended lees ageing.

Fleur de Rauzan (Rosé): Its salmon-pink color is enhanced by delicate effervescence. On the nose, fresh red berry aromas (raspberry, strawberry) dominate, supported by floral nuances. The palate is lively and fresh, finishing with a deliciously indulgent touch, typical of great rosé wines made using the Champagne method.
