Thanks to the passion of the Landié family, these wines reflect the distinctive character of a clay-limestone terroir and the desire to blend traditional expertise with technical innovation. The entire range is defined by its purity, fruit-forward profile, and elegance—whether it’s the rich, full-bodied red or the expressive white, each wine captures the essence of this ever-evolving family estate.
History
Château Le Roc is crafted by Vignobles Landié, a family-owned estate based in Saint-Martin-du-Puy. For over thirty years, Jean-François Landié and his sons have cultivated a 60-hectare vineyard, driven by their deep passion for viticulture and winemaking.
Originally from Lot-et-Garonne, Jean-François began his career at a young age as a simple vine grower. Through years of hard work and unwavering determination, he acquired new parcels, modernized production facilities, and built a temperature-controlled winery in 1996. In 2004, his two sons joined the family venture, one of whom is a trained oenologist from the University of Bordeaux, further strengthening the technical expertise of the estate.
The Vineyard
Situated on clay-limestone soils, the vineyards of Château Le Roc span a total of 30 hectares, with 20 hectares dedicated to red wine and 10 hectares to white wine production. The reds are composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, with an average vine age of 35 years, while the whites blend 70% Sauvignon and 30% Muscadelle, with vines averaging 30 years old.
Committed to sustainable viticulture, the estate is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE 3) and follows production practices that align with Vegan standards. Harvesting is carried out both mechanically and manually, depending on the parcels and their maturity, ensuring the best expression of each grape variety.
Winemaking & Aging
For Château Le Roc Red, the harvest undergoes meticulous selection before a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation takes place at temperatures between 25 and 26°C, followed by a post-fermentation maceration of 10 to 12 days to refine extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs on fine lees, and the wine is then aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and enhance its fruity expression.
Château Le Roc White is vinified with a focus on aromatic purity. After total destemming and cold skin maceration at around 7°C, the grapes are pressed, followed by cold stabilization at 4°C for eight days to fully extract aromas. Fermentation occurs at a low temperature (15-16°C) to preserve the fruit’s freshness. Finally, the wine is aged for fifteen days on fine lees, with controlled temperatures, to enhance complexity and roundness on the palate.
Wine Character
Château Le Roc Red features a deep hue and an intense nose of ripe red fruits, accented with spicy and floral nuances. On the palate, its attack is both full and velvety, supported by silky tannins that enhance its balance. Aging in stainless steel tanks preserves its vibrant fruitiness, complemented by a beautiful freshness.
Château Le Roc White reveals a pale color with golden reflections and a delicate bouquet marked by notes of white flowers, citrus, and exotic fruits. The palate is lively, elegant, and slightly rounded, thanks to brief aging on fine lees, which adds volume. Its fresh and persistent finish makes this white an ideal choice for convivial moments.
