Cuvée Athalésie
This cuvée is part of an eco-responsible and sustainable approach. With 450 hectares of vineyards either organic or in conversion, the Sauveterre-Blasimon-Espiet winery is a key player in Bordeaux’s ecological transition. By adopting agroecological practices such as planting hedgerows to promote biodiversity, establishing flower meadows for pollinators, and installing beehives, it demonstrates a deep commitment to environmental stewardship.
Thanks to this approach, Cuvée Athalésie embodies not only ancestral expertise but also a forward-looking vision, combining winemaking excellence with the preservation of the terroir.
History
The history of Cuvée Athalésie is rooted in a tradition of cooperation and resilience. In 1934, during a period of economic crisis, 126 winemakers from Sauveterre-de-Guyenne joined forces to create the Intercommunal Winery. Since then, this union has continued to grow and evolve, overcoming challenges such as the great frost of 1956 and adapting to climatic changes. In 2007, the merger of Caves Louis Vallon and Sauveterre-Blasimon-Espiet led to the creation of Bordeaux Families, bringing together 300 winemaking families, including 174 within the Sauveterre-Blasimon-Espiet Winery.
Today, the winery is a driving economic force in the region, managing nearly 3,400 hectares of vineyards. Drawing on generations of expertise, the winemakers of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne combine modern techniques with respect for tradition. Technological innovation, including pneumatic presses and advanced vinification systems, allows for the production of high-precision wines, while preserving the unique identity of the terroir.
The Vineyard
The vineyard of Cuvée Athalésie thrives on clay-silt soil, providing an ideal structure for cultivating Bordeaux’s signature white grape varieties. With an average age of 30 years, the vines cover 100 hectares, planted at a density of 4,000 vines per hectare.
This cuvée is perfectly balanced between Sémillon (50%), which adds roundness and complexity, Sauvignon Blanc (25%), bringing freshness and vibrancy, and Muscadelle (25%), which imparts floral notes and a delicate aromatic bouquet.
Committed to sustainable viticulture, the vineyard is carefully monitored, with precise maturity control on each parcel to ensure the grapes are harvested at their full aromatic potential.
Winemaking & Aging
The vinification of Cuvée Athalésie is based on a modern and meticulous approach. After harvesting, the grapes are carefully pressed to extract the purest aromas. Fermentation is conducted under strict temperature control, ensuring precise management of the desired sugar content—an essential factor in achieving balance in this sweet wine.
The wine is aged exclusively in stainless steel tanks for 6 to 12 months, preserving its freshness and aromatic expression. This method guarantees an elegant cuvée, highlighting the purity of the fruit and the finesse of its aromas.

Cuvée Athalésie reveals a golden hue with bright reflections. Its nose captivates with a rich and expressive aromatic palette, intertwining notes of exotic fruits, apricot, honey, and white flowers. On the palate, the attack is soft and delicate, offering a subtle balance between freshness and sweetness. The finish, with beautiful persistence, leaves a delectable and elegant impression.
